  About us

Welcome to the Shrewsbury Decorative and Fine Arts Society website.

Shrewsbury Decorative and Fine Arts Society (SDFAS), formed in 1982, is a member society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS), one of over 340 member societies in the UK and mainland Europe, and even in New Zealand and Australia.

Our SDFAS members, currently around 240 in number, come from all over Shropshire and meet in the afternoon on the third Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at the Lord Hill Hotel (see 'Lectures' in menu on left) ten times a year.  In addition we hold at least one study day per year and offer members a varied programme of visits to galleries, museums and historic buildings within a day’s travelling of Shrewsbury.  We are actively engaged in supporting local Young Arts projects, our Church Recording group is in the process of completing its first survey and our Heritage Volunteers are working with the staff at Shrewsbury Archives.

Our aims are to offer you an opportunity to enrich your knowledge and interest in all aspects of the arts and to meet people of like minds in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, and to foster active participation in the preservation of our cultural heritage.

We welcome new members; if you would like to join SDFAS please contact us or just come along to one of our meetings.  We look forward to seeing you.
